Safe Crops
Currently, only 4 buckwheat varieties are entered into the Polish National Register. These are kora, panda, smuga and korona. These varieties come from the Cracow Breeding Plant.
After 3 years of testing each type of buckwheat based on efficiency, effectiveness, taste and climate, we decided to specialise in only one variety of buckwheat - panda.
The seeds of panda buckwheat are characterised by their high quality and resistance to diseases. They are also resistant to spring cold and drought. They also possess great nutritional value and an exquisite taste.
Buckwheat seeds are suitable for sowing on various soils, including those of poorer quality. However, it must be understood that despite its high ability to adapt to existing conditions, this plant also has requirements that must be met. One of them is the high demand for thermal energy. The optimal temperature for the plant's growth and development is 20°C.
Our seeds as buckwheat groats and buckwheat flour are used as food by its own and as an ingredient in baked goods. Another part of this plant is also used in herbal medicine. Due to its numerous nutritional values, buckwheat is one of the plants particularly liked by beekeepers. In our humble farm, we are using approximately 15 hives to accelerate pollination. 95% of seeds have to have contact with bees during the flowering process.
Our buckwheat is a rich source of protein and other nutrients, such as zinc, magnesium and potassium. Buckwheat is a plant used in cattle breeding. Buckwheat straw is an excellent feed for animals, and its taste and nutritional values make it a popular choice among farmers and breeders. However, our farm is using it as compost for next year's circle growth. Due to the fact that buckwheat straw is sometimes mixed with straw of other cereals, it can be a dietary diversification for cattle, which naturally consume a variety of grasses and herbs. Buckwheat is not only a plant with food value, but also an important element of the food chain and animal husbandry.
